The Public Engagement Group meets four times a year, comprising of the members below. All members have a real interest in local health and adult social care services, and the NHS in general. Community Representatives have a dedicated time slot at every meeting to discuss the issues that matter most to the public. All discussion items are minuted and any actions arising are fed back to the group at the following meeting.

The Public Engagement Group act as the public voice, ensuring NHS Surrey Heath CCG and the Adult Social Care services of Surrey County Council listen to a range of views that truly reflect what the local population want and need. They hold us to account and make sure that we communicating and engaging with our public in the best possible way.

The group works collaboratively to ensure everyone has the opportunity to play an important part in helping to make real, constructive changes in influencing the delivery of local health and adult social care services. The main aims of the group are to:

  • Contribute towards the planning, design and assessment of local health and adult social care services
  • Engage with the wider community
  • Listen to views and use the feedback to inform decision making
  • Report back to the group on how the organisations have acted on their views
  • Shape communications and engagement
  • Improve public participation and engagement

Caroline Warner

Lay Person (Public Participation and Engagement)

Caroline was appointed as Lay Person for Public and Patient Engagement in December 2018, and chairs the Public Engagement Group meeting. Caroline’s professional expertise includes strategic planning, public engagement and consumer advocacy. During Caroline's executive career, she worked as a Marketing Director looking after some well-known consumer brands.

Caroline is currently a Non-Executive Director for Surrey & Sussex NHS Trust where she Chairs the Safety & Quality Committee. Caroline is also a Consumer Advocate with the UK’s Water Watchdog, The Consumer Council for Water, a member of the Customer Challenge Group for Affinity Water and a Board Member for an academy group of schools in London. Recently, she has also served as a District Councillor in Local Government.
